This bill amends Section 321.438 of the Iowa Code regarding motor vehicle window tint regulations. It establishes that individuals are prohibited from operating a motor vehicle on the highway if the vehicle's front windshield, side windows adjacent to the driver, or sidewings have a transparency level of less than 35 percent light transmittance. The bill removes the previous standard of 70 percent light transmittance and eliminates the authority of the Department of Transportation (DOT) to set rules for a minimum measurable standard of transparency.

Additionally, the bill maintains an exemption for vehicles owned or leased by federal, state, or local law enforcement agencies when operated as part of official duties. Violations of this section will incur a scheduled fine of $70. Overall, the bill aims to tighten regulations on window tinting to enhance visibility and safety on the roads.
