This bill amends Section 257.14 of the Iowa Code to provide budget adjustments for school districts affected by natural disasters. Specifically, it establishes that for the budget year starting July 1, 2016, and for subsequent years, a school district can receive a budget adjustment equal to the difference between the regular program district cost for that budget year and 101% of the regular program district cost for the base year.

Additionally, the bill introduces provisions for school districts that have been impacted by a natural disaster, for which a major disaster has been declared by the President of the United States or a state of disaster emergency has been proclaimed by the Governor. If a school district receives a budget adjustment in the base year and experiences such a disaster during the base year or the preceding budget year, it will be eligible for an additional budget adjustment equal to the amount of its base year adjustment.
