This bill amends the provisions regarding the effective dates for school district enlargements, reorganizations, changes in boundaries, and dissolutions. It establishes that if a proposition for such changes is approved by voters before January 1, 2025, the changes will take effect on July 1 following the reorganization election. Conversely, if the proposition is approved on or after January 1, 2025, the changes will take effect on July 1 in the calendar year immediately following the year in which the election was held.
Additionally, the bill modifies the effective date for the attachment of territory in cases of approved dissolution proposals. Similar to the previous provision, if the proposition is approved before January 1, 2025, the attachment will be effective on July 1 following the approval. If approved on or after January 1, 2025, the attachment will take effect on July 1 in the subsequent calendar year. The bill also includes a retroactive applicability clause, making these changes effective from January 1, 2025.
