This bill amends various sections of the Iowa Code to enhance the dissemination of information regarding immunization exemptions. It mandates that information about exemptions and their requirements be included in public communications following immunization recommendations from the health department, as well as in communications from schools to parents or guardians. Additionally, this information must be published on the websites and included in registration documentation for all elementary and secondary schools, as well as licensed child care centers. Child care facilities and homes are also required to provide this information in their communications to parents or guardians.

Furthermore, the bill requires the state board of education to adopt rules that ensure school districts, accredited nonpublic schools, charter schools, and innovation zone schools include exemption information in their communications related to immunizations. Community colleges and institutions of higher education must also adopt policies to include this information in communications to students. The bill specifies that the costs associated with these mandates will be covered by state school foundation aid, ensuring that no additional state funding is necessary for implementation.
