1 Section 1. DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH AND HUMAN SERVICES —— DOUBLE
2 UP FOOD BUCKS PROGRAM —— SUPPLEMENTAL APPROPRIATION. There
3 is appropriated from the general fund of the state to the
4 department of health and human services for the fiscal year
5 beginning July 1, 2025, and ending June 30, 2026, in addition
6 to any other funding appropriated for such purpose for the same
7 fiscal year, the following amount, or so much thereof as is
8 necessary, to be used for the purposes designated:

10 The appropriation made in this section shall be used to
11 provide a grant to the Iowa healthiest state initiative to
12 support the double up food bucks program to make fresh fruits
13 and vegetables sold at farmers markets, grocery stores, and
14 other participating locations accessible to individuals and
15 families who reside in this state and receive assistance
16 through the federal supplemental nutrition assistance program.
17 EXPLANATION
18 The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with
19 the explanation’s substance by the members of the general assembly.
20 This bill appropriates $1 million from the general fund of
21 the state to the department of health and human services for FY
22 2025-2026, in addition to any other funding appropriated for
23 such purpose for the same fiscal year, to be used to provide
24 a grant to the Iowa healthiest state initiative to support
25 the double up food bucks program. The program makes fresh
26 fruits and vegetables sold at farmers markets, grocery stores,
27 and other participating locations accessible to individuals
28 and families who reside in this state and receive assistance
29 through the federal supplemental nutrition assistance program.
