This bill amends Section 483A.24 of the Iowa Code regarding special landowner turkey hunting licenses. It allows for the issuance of one wild turkey license annually, free of charge, to either the owner of a farm unit or a member of the owner's family, as well as to the tenant or a member of the tenant's family, but not both. The licenses are valid only on the specific farm unit for which the applicant qualifies and do not require the owner or tenant to reside on the property.

Significantly, the bill modifies the validity of the hunting licenses by removing the restriction that they are only usable during designated bow or firearm turkey hunting seasons. Instead, the licenses can now be used during any open season that permits the method of take authorized for that season, subject to any applicable restrictions. Additionally, each license issued under this provision allows the holder to harvest one wild turkey.
