SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 112
BY COMMITTEE ON RULES AND ADMINISTRATION
1 A Resolution honoring Senator Todd Taylor for his
2 service in the Iowa Senate.
3 WHEREAS, Senator Todd Taylor was first elected to
4 the House of Representatives in 1994, and after 12
5 terms in the House of Representatives he was elected
6 to the Senate in 2018; and
7 WHEREAS, Senator Taylor has long resided in Cedar
8 Rapids with his wife, Kim, and children, Sydney and
9 Carson, and has never failed to call home at 8:00 p.m.
10 every night he was in Des Moines; and
11 WHEREAS, Senator Taylor has continued a Cedar
12 Rapids tradition of sending capable, dedicated,
13 and experienced representation to the Statehouse,
14 and through his decades of work as a labor leader,
15 including receiving the Labor Arbitration Institute
16 Award four times in five years, has brought significant
17 expertise on labor matters to the Senate; and
18 WHEREAS, during his time in the General Assembly,
19 Senator Taylor has been a champion for the rights of
20 workers to organize, earn a good living, and work in a
21 safe environment, as well as championing voting rights,
22 securing a properly funded and equitable justice
23 system, rebuilding after the devastating flood of
24 2008 and derecho of 2020, expanding Iowa’s workforce,
25 increasing access to child care, safeguarding the
26 social safety net, promoting railroad safety, and
27 passage of the Smokefree Air Act; and
28 WHEREAS, during his Senate tenure, Senator Taylor

1 has served on the Agriculture, Appropriations, Ethics,
2 Labor and Business Relations (ranking member), Local
3 Government, State Government, Transportation (ranking
4 member), Ways and Means, and Workforce Committees; the
5 Justice Systems Appropriations Subcommittee (ranking
6 member); and the Fuel Distribution Percentage Formula
7 Review Committee, the Commercial Air Service Retention
8 and Expansion Committee, the Brady-Giglio List Study
9 Committee, the Interstate Compact for Adult Offender
10 Supervision State Council, the Minor Driver’s License
11 Interim Study Committee, the Statewide Interoperable
12 Communications System Board, and the Legislative
13 Council; and
14 WHEREAS, Senator Taylor has further demonstrated his
15 commitment to civic engagement through his involvement
16 with the Hawkeye Area Labor Council, the Bowhay
17 Institute for Legislative Leadership Development
18 Selection Board, the Linn County Democratic Central
19 Committee, Boy Scouts of America, and the Community of
20 Christ Church; and
21 WHEREAS, Senator Taylor is grateful to the citizens
22 of his district for placing their trust in him, and
23 looks forward to his next endeavors and spending more
24 time with his family; NOW THEREFORE,
25 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE, That the Senate honors
26 Senator Todd Taylor for his 30 years of public service
27 to the people of Iowa and wishes him all the best in
28 the years to come.
