SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 108
BY GIDDENS, SWEENEY, DOTZLER, and ZUMBACH
1 A Resolution recognizing and congratulating University
2 of Northern Iowa (UNI) wrestler Parker Keckeisen for
3 his outstanding wrestling accomplishments.
4 WHEREAS, on March 23, 2024, UNI wrestler Parker
5 Keckeisen won the National Collegiate Athletic
6 Association (NCAA) individual wrestling championship at
7 184 pounds, winning the final match by a major decision
8 and closing out the season with 14 straight bonus-point
9 victories; and
10 WHEREAS, he became the first ever UNI Panther
11 wrestler to be named a four-time Division I
12 All-American, after earning the distinction in
13 2024; and
14 WHEREAS, wrestling his way through the 184-pound
15 weight class bracket at the Big 12 Conference
16 championship, Keckeisen was named the tournament’s
17 Outstanding Wrestler following his fourth Big 12
18 Conference title; and
19 WHEREAS, he became a finalist for the Dan Hodge
20 Trophy, which is awarded to the nation’s top collegiate
21 wrestler, after earning bonus-point wins in all but
22 three matches; and
23 WHEREAS, in addition to his excellent work and
24 outstanding accomplishments on the mat, Keckeisen also
25 earned recognition as a National Wrestling Coaches
26 Association (NWCA) Scholar All-American as a result
27 of his dedication to his studies in construction
28 management at UNI; and

1 WHEREAS, Keckeisen surpassed 100 victories in his
2 collegiate career which included milestone victories
3 over highly ranked wrestlers at both the Big 12
4 Wrestling Championship Tournament and the NWCA All-Star
5 Classic, winning the Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational,
6 taking first place at the Grand View Open, and winning
7 all three of his matches at the Collegiate Duals; and
8 WHEREAS, he enrolled at UNI after winning two
9 Wisconsin high school state championships along with
10 earning Academic All-State honors; NOW THEREFORE,
11 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE, That the Senate
12 congratulates and honors Parker Keckeisen’s outstanding
13 wrestling accomplishments, culminating in the NCAA
14 wrestling championship title at 184 pounds; and
15 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That upon passage, the
16 Secretary of the Senate shall transmit a copy of this
17 resolution to Parker Keckeisen; UNI wrestling head
18 coach, Doug Schwab; interim director of athletics, Bob
19 Bowlsby; and UNI president, Mark Nook.
