1 Section 1. MEDICAID —— REIMBURSEMENT FOR THE REPAIR OF
2 COMPLEX REHABILITATION TECHNOLOGY. Under both Medicaid
3 managed care and fee-for-service administration of the
4 Medicaid program, the department of health and human services
5 shall not require a prescription or a face-to-face visit
6 for reimbursement of a provider for the repair of complex
7 rehabilitation technology, if the complex rehabilitation
8 technology was previously prescribed and reimbursed under the
9 Medicaid program. For the purposes of this section, “complex
10 rehabilitation technology” means items classified under the
11 Medicare program as durable medical equipment used for mobility
12 that is individually configured for an individual to meet
13 the individual’s specific and unique medical, physical, and
14 functional needs and capacities for basic activities of daily
15 living and instrumental activities of daily living identified
16 as medically necessary.
17 EXPLANATION
18 The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with
19 the explanation’s substance by the members of the general assembly.
20 This bill provides that under both Medicaid managed care
21 and fee-for-service administration of the Medicaid program,
22 the department of health and human services shall not
23 require provision of a prescription or a face-to-face visit
24 for reimbursement of a provider for the repair of complex
25 rehabilitation technology, if the complex rehabilitation
26 technology was previously prescribed and reimbursed under the
27 Medicaid program. The bill defines “complex rehabilitation
28 technology” for the purposes of the bill.
