1 Section 1. Section 135.30A, Code 2024, is amended to read
2 as follows:
3 135.30A Breast-feeding and expressing breast milk in public
4 places.
5 Notwithstanding any other provision of law to the contrary,
6 a woman may breast-feed the woman’s own child, or may express
7 breast milk, in any public place where the woman’s presence
8 is otherwise authorized. For the purposes of this section,
9 “express breast milk” means to extract milk from the breast by
10 hand or by electric or manual pump for subsequent feeding of a
11 child.
12 EXPLANATION
13 The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with
14 the explanation’s substance by the members of the general assembly.
15 This bill relates to expressing breast milk in a public
16 place. The bill provides that notwithstanding any other
17 provision of law to the contrary, in addition to a woman being
18 authorized to breast-feed the woman’s own child, a woman may
19 express breast milk, in any public place where the woman’s
20 presence is otherwise authorized. The bill defines “express
21 breast milk” for the purposes of the bill.
