AN ACT
RELATING TO THE TRANSPORT OF PATIENTS TO MENTAL HEALTH ACCESS
CENTERS BY AN AMBULANCE.
3 BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF IOWA:
1 Section 1. NEW SECTION. 147A.19 Transport to mental health
2 access centers.
3 A service program may provide ambulance service to transport
4 a person experiencing a mental health crisis to a mental health
5 access center.
6 Sec. 2. AMBULANCE TRANSPORT TO MENTAL HEALTH ACCESS CENTERS
7 —— BILLING. The department of health and human services shall
8 authorize payments to service programs for the transportation
9 of persons experiencing a mental health crisis to mental health

10 access centers in amounts similar to payments authorized
11 for the transportation of persons to hospital emergency
12 departments.
