1 An Act relating to required information in the electronic
2 database used by the department of transportation and law
3 enforcement to access registration, titling, and driver’s
4 license information.
5 BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF IOWA:

1 Section 1. NEW SECTION. 321.491A Driver improvement
2 information.
3 The department shall include in the electronic database used
4 by the department and law enforcement to access registration,
5 titling, and driver’s license information, details indicating
6 whether a driver has been required by the department or ordered
7 by a court to complete remedial driver improvement action,
8 including any driver improvement education course, following an
9 arrest, citation, conviction, or accident, and if so, whether
10 the driver completed the action.
11 Sec. 2. Section 602.8102, Code 2024, is amended by adding
12 the following new subsection:
13 NEW SUBSECTION. 52. If a person is ordered to complete
14 remedial driver improvement action, including any driver
15 improvement education course, the clerk shall forward a copy
16 of the order to the department of transportation within ten
17 days of the order. The clerk shall notify the department of
18 transportation that the person completed such action within ten
19 days of receiving confirmation that the person completed the
20 action.
