AN ACT
RELATING TO TRAPPING BY PERSONS UNDER THE AGE OF SIXTEEN.
3 BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF IOWA:
1 Section 1. Section 483A.24, subsection 8, Code 2024, is
2 amended to read as follows:
3 8. A person under sixteen years of age is not required to
4 have a hunting license to hunt game or a fur harvester license
5 to trap fur-bearing animals if accompanied by the minor’s
6 parent or guardian or in company with any other competent adult
7 with the consent of the minor’s parent or guardian, if the
8 person accompanying the minor possesses a valid hunting license
9 while hunting game or fur harvester license while trapping
10 fur-bearing animals; however, there must be one licensed adult
11 accompanying each person under sixteen years of age. The minor
12 must have a deer hunting license to hunt deer and a wild turkey
13 hunting license to hunt wild turkey appropriate for the minor’s

14 residency status. This subsection is not restricted by the
15 provisions of section 483A.31.
