2 BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF IOWA:

1 Section 1. Section 124E.2, subsection 10, Code 2024, is
2 amended by striking the subsection and inserting in lieu
3 thereof the following:
4 10. “Medical cannabidiol” means any species of the genus
5 cannabis plant, or any mixture or preparation thereof,
6 including whole plant extracts and resins, that is delivered
7 in any of the following forms:
8 a. Oral forms, including but not limited to:
9 (1) Tablets.
10 (2) Capsules.
11 (3) Liquids.
12 (4) Tinctures.
13 (5) Sublingual forms.
14 b. Topical forms, including but not limited to:
15 (1) Gels.
16 (2) Ointments, creams, or lotions.
17 (3) Transdermal patches.
18 c. Inhaled forms, limited to:
19 (1) Nebulizable inhaled forms.
20 (2) Vaporizable dried raw cannabis.
21 (3) Other vaporizable forms of cannabis.
22 EXPLANATION
23 The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with
24 the explanation’s substance by the members of the general assembly.
25 This bill relates to the medical cannabidiol program. The
26 bill changes the definition of “medical cannabidiol” to include
27 specific forms of oral, topical, and inhalable cannabis.
