1 Section 1. Section 414.1, subsection 1, paragraph e, Code
2 2023, is amended by striking the paragraph.
3 EXPLANATION
4 The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with
5 the explanation’s substance by the members of the general assembly.
6 This bill relates to city regulation of short-term rental
7 properties. Under current law, a city shall not adopt or
8 enforce any regulation, restriction, or other ordinance,
9 including a conditional use permit requirement, relating to
10 short-term rental properties within the city. A city also
11 shall not require a license or permit fee for a short-term
12 rental property in the city. The bill strikes these
13 prohibitions. The bill does not strike similar prohibitions on
14 counties (Code section 331.301(17)).
