1 An Act relating to dental provider reimbursement under the
2 dental wellness plan and the dental wellness plan kids.
3 BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF IOWA:

1 Section 1. DENTAL WELLNESS PLAN AND DENTAL WELLNESS PLAN
2 KIDS —— PROVIDER REIMBURSEMENT. A provider participating in
3 the dental wellness plan or the dental wellness plan kids
4 shall be reimbursed for services at the percentage of the
5 usual, customary, and reasonable fee or at the percentage of
6 the commercial dental insurance billed charges, whichever is
7 higher, to align dental provider reimbursement rates under the
8 dental wellness plan and the dental wellness plan kids with
9 reimbursement rates under the healthy and well kids in Iowa
10 (hawk-i) program pursuant to chapter 514I, in order to maximize
11 dental provider participation in and member access under the
12 dental wellness plan and the dental wellness plan kids.
13 EXPLANATION
14 The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with
15 the explanation’s substance by the members of the general assembly.
16 This bill requires that a provider participating in the
17 dental wellness plan or the dental wellness plan kids shall
18 be reimbursed for services at the percentage of the usual,
19 customary, and reasonable fee or at the percentage of the
20 commercial dental insurance billed charges, whichever is
21 higher, to align dental provider reimbursement rates under
22 the dental wellness plan and the dental wellness plan kids
23 with those under the healthy and well kids in Iowa (hawk-i)
24 program, in order to maximize dental provider participation in
25 and member access under the dental wellness plan and the dental
26 wellness plan kids.
