1 An Act relating to certain criteria to be considered in
2 determining whether a substantial change in circumstances
3 exists to modify a support order.
4 BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF IOWA:

1 Section 1. Section 598.21C, subsection 1, Code 2021, is
2 amended by adding the following new paragraph:
3 NEW PARAGRAPH. 0l. A party being convicted or held in
4 contempt for a violation of a no-contract order or of a civil
5 protective order as provided in section 664A.7.
6 EXPLANATION
7 The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with
8 the explanation’s substance by the members of the general assembly.
9 This bill provides that in determining whether a substantial
10 change in circumstances exists as a basis for modification of
11 a child, spousal, or medical support order, the court shall
12 consider a party being convicted or held in contempt for a
13 violation of a no-contact order or of a civil protective order.
