3 authorizations.

1 Section 1. Section 272.31, Code 2021, is amended by adding
2 the following new subsection:
3 NEW SUBSECTION. 3A. A substitute authorization that
4 allows an individual to substitute in grades prekindergarten
5 through twelve for no more than ten consecutive days in one
6 job assignment for a regularly assigned teacher who is absent,
7 except in the driver’s education classroom, shall require not
8 more than the successful completion of an associate degree
9 or not more than sixty undergraduate semester hours, or the
10 equivalent, from a regionally accredited institution.
11 EXPLANATION
12 The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with
13 the explanation’s substance by the members of the general assembly.
14 This bill provides that the substitute authorization
15 that the board of educational examiners issues to allow an
16 individual to substitute in grades PK-12 for no more than
17 10 consecutive days in one job assignment for a regularly
18 assigned teacher who is absent, except in the driver’s
19 education classroom, shall require not more than the
20 successful completion of an associate degree or not more than
21 60 undergraduate semester hours, or the equivalent, from a
22 regionally accredited institution.
