Your Committee on Transportation, to which was referred
H.C.R. No. 201 entitled:
“HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE DEPARTMENT OF
TRANSPORTATION AND DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION OF THE COUNTY
OF MAUI TO COLLABORATE WITH THE KIHEI COMMUNITY ASSOCIATION
IN THE PLANNING AND IMPLEMENTATION OF THE KIHEI MAUKA ROAD
PROJECT,
begs leave to report as follows:
The purpose of this measure is to request the Department of
Transportation and Department of Transportation of the County of
Maui to collaborate with the Kihei Community Association in the
planning and implementation of the Kihei Mauka Road Project.
Your Committee received testimony in support of this measure
from the Department of Transportation.
Your Committee finds that the rapid growth of Kihei has led
to significant transportation challenges, including congestion and
frequent road closures, affecting residents’ daily lives. This
measure urges collaboration between agencies and stakeholders to
provide an essential alternative route to improve traffic flow and
community connectivity.
As affirmed by the record of votes of the members of your
Committee on Transportation that is attached to this report, your

Committee concurs with the intent and purpose of R.C.R. No. 201
and recommends that it be referred to your Committee on Finance.
