RE: H.C.R. No. 33
Honorable Ronald D. Kouchi
President of the Senate
Thirty-Third State Legislature
Regular Session of 2025
State of Hawaii
Sir:
Your Committee on Energy and Intergovernmental Affairs, to
which was referred H.C.R. No. 33 entitled:
"HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE POSTMASTER
GENERAL OF THE UNITED STATES POSTAL SERVICE TO RELOCATE THE
PEARL CITY POST OFFICE TO THE UNITED STATES NAVY PROPERTY ON
THE PEARL CITY PENINSULA,"
begs leave to report as follows:
The purpose and intent of this measure is to request the
Postmaster General of the United States Postal Service to relocate
the Pearl City Post Office to the United States Navy property on
the Pearl City peninsula.
Your Committee received testimony in support of this measure
from the Pearl City Neighborhood Board No. 21 and one individual.
Your Committee finds that the Pearl City Post Office was
built in the 1970s at the northeast corner of Acacia Road and
Kamehameha Highway. According to testimony received by your
Committee, over the past decade. Acacia Road has become heavily
congested due to commercial development in the area, leading to
traffic congestion and safety concerns on Kamehameha Highway.
Your Committee recognizes there has also been a major increase in
parcel post packages as more residents are purchasing items online
and notes that the Pearl City area will likely experience a
further increase in residents due to expected future
transit-oriented development. This measure offers a solution to

mitigate traffic congestion at Acacia Road and Kamehameha Highway,

Committee on Energy and Intergovernmental Affairs that is attached
to this report, your Committee concurs with the intent and purpose
of H.C.R. No. 33, and recommends its adoption.
Respectfully submitted on
