HOUSE CONCURRENT
RESOLUTION
Designating the state as a purple heart state.
     WHEREAS, the Purple Heart is a badge created by General George Washington in 1782, to recognize any singularly meritorious action in instances of unusual gallantry in battle and extraordinary fidelity and essential service; and
     WHEREAS, the Purple Heart is awarded to members of the United States military who were killed, wounded, or died of wounds received while engaged in armed combat with an enemy force; as a result of international terrorism; or for being held as a prisoner of war; and
     WHEREAS, the State has a proud history of supporting its active military and veteran population and deeply appreciates the sacrifices that its Purple Heart recipients have made in the Nation's defense; now, therefore,
     BE IT RESOLVED by the House of Representatives of the Thirty-third Legislature of the State of Hawaii, Regular Session of 2025, the Senate concurring, that this body designates the State of Hawaii as a Purple Heart State; and
     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that certified copies of this Concurrent Resolution be transmitted to the Governor and Office of Veterans' Services of the Department of Defense.
