HOUSE RESOLUTION

 

 

CONGRATULATING THE Waipahu Marauders football team on winning the 2023 division I state football championship.

 

 

 

     WHEREAS, founded in 1938, Waipahu High School was established to provide students in Aiea, Pearl City, Waipahu, Ewa, Nanakuli, and Waianae with an intellectually engaging, rigorous, and interdisciplinary education; and

 

     WHEREAS, Waipahu High School endeavors to establish an educational environment that also aligns with its mission of moving forward together by cultivating a connected community that believes in and supports the values and abilities of every student; and

 

     WHEREAS, Waipahu High School is built on a career academy model, which consists of six nationally certified model academies in Arts & Communication, Health & Sciences, Industrial & Engineering Technology, Natural Resources,  Ohana of Excellence, and Professional & Public Services; and

 

     WHEREAS, Waipahu High School and its career academies are designed to prepare students to succeed in college and industry, and in their life's passion; and

 

     WHEREAS, Waipahu High School also supports athletics as an important aspect of students' education as a means of applying what is learned in the classroom beyond the classroom walls; and

 

     WHEREAS, Waipahu High School's athletics program aims to develop students into responsible adults who strive for excellence and pursue endeavors that challenge them to reach for their full potential; and

 

     WHEREAS, the WAIPAHU MARAUDERS won their second State Football Championship in November of 2023 by defeating the reining Division I State Football Champions, the Konawaena Wildcats, 53-28; now, therefore,

 

     BE IT RESOLVED by the House of Representatives of the Thirty-second Legislature of the State of Hawaii, Regular Session of 2024, that this body hereby congratulates the WAIPAHU MARAUDERS on winning the First Hawaiian Bank/HHSAA Division I State Football Championship, applauds the leaders of the team, athletic program, and school for their commitment to providing life lessons on excellence outside of the classroom, and extends to them its best wishes for continued success in all future endeavors.
