Your Committee on Higher Education & Technology, to which was
referred S.C.R. No. 174, S.D. 1, entitled:
“SENATE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE DEPARTMENT OF
HEALTH TO CONVENE A TWENTY-FIRST CENTURY DATA GOVERNANCE TASK
FORCE TO ASSESS CURRENT DEMOGRAPHIC DATA COLLECTION,
PROCESSING, RETENTION, AND SHARING PROCEDURES UTILIZED BY ALL
STATE AGENCIES,”
begs leave to report as follows:
The purpose of this measure is to request:
(1) The Legislature to convene a task force to develop a Twenty—
First Century Data Governance Task Force (Task Force) to assess
current demographic data collection, processing, retention, and
sharing procedures utilized by all state agencies;
(2) The Task Force to submit a report of its findings and
recommendations to the Legislature before the Regular Session of
2025; and
(3) The Task Force to dissolve on June 30, 2025.
Your committee received testimony in support from the Office
of Planning and Sustainable Development.
