Sir:
Your Committee on Public Safety and Intergovernmental and
Military Affairs, to which was referred S.R. No. 133 entitled:
"SENATE RESOLUTION URGING CONGRESS TO TAKE IMMEDIATE AND
DECISIVE ACTION TO SUPPORT MIDDLE- AND LOWER-INCOME
HOUSEHOLDS IN AMERICA,"
begs leave to report as follows:
The purpose and intent of this measure is to urge the United
States Congress to take immediate and decisive action to support
middle- and lower-income households in 7\merica.
Your Committee received no testimony on this measure.
Your Committee finds that the United States faces an ongoing
crisis of inequality with middle- and lower-income households
bearing the brunt of economic hardship. Your Committee further
finds that despite being one of the wealthiest nations in the
world, the United States ranks poorly in numerous health and
social indicators, reflecting systemic failures in addressing the
needs of its most vulnerable members of society. Your Committee
concludes that it imperative for Congress to prioritize the
wellbeing of all citizens and enact legislation that promotes
fairness, justice, and opportunity for every individual.

Your Committee has amended this measure by making technical,
nonsubstantive amendments for the purposes of clarity and
consistency.
