The Florida House of Representatives has passed House Resolution HR 8099, which congratulates the Wendelstedt Umpire School on its 50th anniversary of providing exceptional training for umpires in Minor League and Major League Baseball. Recognized as the only independently operated professional umpire training program endorsed by Major League Baseball, the school is based in Ormond Beach and has produced over 50 current Major League umpires, contributing to the development of nearly 100 umpires who have officiated at the highest levels of the sport.

As the Wendelstedt Umpire School concludes its traditional four-week training program after five decades, the resolution acknowledges its significant impact on the baseball community by training countless umpires who have officiated games across the nation. The Florida House extends its congratulations and best wishes to the school for its future endeavors, recognizing its vital role in shaping the careers of many umpires in the sport.
