The bill amends Florida Statutes to enhance regulations surrounding pet insurance. It introduces a requirement for licensees who sell pet insurance to complete two hours of continuing education specifically related to pet insurance during each biennial compliance period. Additionally, it revises the disclosure requirements for pet insurers, mandating that they provide policyholders with a summary of key policy features in plain language, including coverage limits, deductibles, waiting periods, exclusions, and wellness benefits.

Furthermore, the bill establishes an annual reporting requirement for pet insurers, which must be submitted to the Office of Insurance Regulation by March 1 each year. This report will include data on the number of policies issued, renewed, and canceled, as well as aggregate premium and claims data, policy denials, and information on waiting periods and exclusions. The effective date for these changes is set for July 1, 2026.
