This bill amends section 381.986 of the Florida Statutes to enhance the medical marijuana certification process for qualified physicians and patients. It increases the supply limits that a physician can issue in a single certification, allowing for up to five 70-day supply limits and ten 35-day supply limits for marijuana in a form suitable for smoking. Additionally, the bill revises the frequency of evaluations that physicians must conduct for existing patients, changing the requirement from every 30 weeks to every 52 weeks. Physicians are also permitted to conduct these evaluations via telehealth, provided they have previously conducted an in-person examination.
Furthermore, the bill establishes a cap on the fees for identification cards for veterans, stating that the fee for honorably discharged veterans cannot exceed $15. It mandates that a portion of the fees collected be allocated to educational initiatives aimed at minority communities regarding medical marijuana use and its implications. The bill is set to take effect on July 1, 2026.
