This bill amends sections of Florida law regarding incentive gain-time for inmates. It introduces provisions that allow inmates to earn incentive gain-time for completing vocational certificates, educational or rehabilitation programs, and participating in workforce preparedness initiatives. Specifically, inmates can receive additional gain-time awards ranging from 30 to 180 days based on their successful completion of these programs. The bill also establishes that inmates must serve a minimum of 65% of their sentence for nonviolent felonies and 85% for other offenses before they can be eligible for gain-time.

Additionally, the bill modifies existing language in the Criminal Punishment Code to reflect these changes, including the removal of the previous requirement that inmates serve 85% of their sentence before being eligible for gain-time. Instead, it now specifies the required percentages for different types of offenses. The act is set to take effect on July 1, 2026.
