This bill amends section 1012.55 of the Florida Statutes to provide an exemption for certified school counselors from certain educator certification requirements. Specifically, it introduces a new subsection (6) that states individuals employed as certified school counselors are not required to meet the certification criteria outlined in s. 1012.56(2)(g) and (h), which pertain to mastery of general and subject area knowledge, unless such requirements are mandated by the school district for employment.
Additionally, the bill renumbers the existing subsection (6) to subsection (7) to accommodate this new provision. The effective date for this act is set for July 1, 2026.
