This bill amends the definition of the "practice of the profession of pharmacy" in section 465.003 of the Florida Statutes to include new responsibilities for pharmacists. Specifically, it allows pharmacists to order and administer certain federally authorized tests, including serology tests, under specific conditions. Additionally, the bill creates a new section, 465.1894, which authorizes qualified pharmacists to administer medications during life-threatening emergencies at Level I or Level II trauma centers, provided they are directed by a licensed physician. Trauma centers are required to maintain documentation of the pharmacists' qualifications, which include completing an accredited postgraduate residency or having at least three years of direct patient care experience in a hospital setting.

Furthermore, the bill reenacts sections 465.1901 and 626.8825(1)(r) to incorporate the amendments made to section 465.003, ensuring that the practice of orthotics and pedorthics by pharmacists is regulated similarly to other pharmacy practices. The Board of Pharmacy is tasked with developing rules to implement these changes. The act is set to take effect on July 1, 2026.
