This bill amends Florida Statutes to extend sovereign immunity protections to contractors providing public transit services and their employees or agents, classifying them as agents of the state while acting within the scope of their contracts. Specifically, a new paragraph (f) is added to subsection (10) of section 768.28, defining public transit and establishing that these contractors are considered state agents under certain conditions. Additionally, the bill redesignates existing paragraphs in the statute to accommodate this new provision.

Furthermore, the bill amends paragraph (b) of subsection (12) of section 766.1115 to update a cross-reference to align with the new language in section 768.28. The effective date for this act is set for July 1, 2026.
