The bill establishes the Gun Violence Prevention Pilot Program under a new section, 394.4997, Florida Statutes, aimed at addressing gun violence among individuals under 21 years of age in the City of Gainesville. The program, developed by IMPACT GNV in collaboration with various local entities, will provide mental health services, community-based interventions, and conflict resolution training. It targets youth at moderate to high risk of gun violence, offering them access to therapy, job training, and educational opportunities. The program also includes a referral system for participants to receive additional support from the public defender's office, state attorney's office, and the Department of Juvenile Justice.

Additionally, the bill mandates annual reporting requirements for both the City of Gainesville and IMPACT GNV to assess the program's effectiveness and its impact on gun violence rates. The program is set to expire on June 30, 2030, and an appropriation of $500,000 from the General Revenue Fund is allocated for its implementation in the 2026-2027 fiscal year. The act is scheduled to take effect on July 1, 2026.
