This bill amends various sections of Florida Statutes to prohibit the use of corporal punishment by school district employees on public school students. Specifically, it modifies section 1002.20 to state that a school district employee may not use corporal punishment, as defined in section 1003.01, on a public school student. The bill also removes previous provisions that allowed corporal punishment to be administered under certain guidelines by teachers or principals, including the requirement for parental consent and the presence of another adult during the punishment.

Additionally, the bill makes conforming changes to sections 1003.32, 1006.07, and 1012.28 to reflect this prohibition. It eliminates references to corporal punishment in the context of student discipline and the responsibilities of school personnel. The act is set to take effect on July 1, 2026.
