The bill, titled "Missy's Law," establishes mandatory remand to custody for individuals convicted of dangerous crimes in Florida. It creates a new section, 903.0472, in the Florida Statutes, which mandates that upon a finding of guilt for a dangerous crime, as defined in s. 907.041(5)(a), the court must immediately remand the individual to custody. This individual will remain in custody pending sentencing or further proceedings without the possibility of release on bond. Additionally, the bill prohibits courts from granting postconviction bond or any other form of release for those found guilty or who plead guilty to a dangerous crime.

The law specifies that this mandatory remand applies regardless of whether the convicted individual intends to appeal or has filed a notice of appeal. However, it does not apply if the conviction has been vacated, reversed on appeal, set aside by a judgment of acquittal, or otherwise nullified. The bill is set to take effect on July 1, 2026.
