The proposed bill, titled "Missy's Law," aims to enhance the legal framework surrounding dangerous crimes in Florida. It establishes a new section, 903.0472, which mandates that individuals found guilty of a dangerous crime must be remanded to custody immediately, remaining in custody without the possibility of bond until sentencing or further proceedings. Additionally, the bill prohibits courts from granting postconviction bond or any form of release for those convicted of dangerous crimes, regardless of whether they intend to appeal. Exceptions to this rule apply only if the conviction is vacated, reversed, set aside, or otherwise nullified.

Furthermore, the bill amends the definition of "dangerous crime" in section 907.041 to include a comprehensive list of offenses, such as arson, aggravated assault, homicide, sexual battery, and human trafficking, while removing the provision that allowed for the inclusion of attempts or conspiracies to commit such crimes. New insertions expand the definition to include violations related to computer pornography or child exploitation. The bill is set to take effect on July 1, 2026.
