The bill establishes a new section, 99.122, in the Florida Statutes, which mandates the Department of Law Enforcement to provide a protective security detail for nominees of major political parties for specific statewide constitutional offices, including the Governor, Lieutenant Governor, and cabinet officers. This security detail is to be initiated immediately after the Elections Canvassing Commission certifies the results of the primary election and will continue until the nominee concedes the general election or until the results of the general election are certified, whichever occurs first.

Additionally, the bill stipulates that the protective security detail must be maintained for the officers-elect until they officially assume their office. The effective date for this act is set for July 1, 2026.
