The bill establishes a new section, 99.122, in the Florida Statutes, which mandates the Department of Law Enforcement to provide a protective security detail for nominees and officers-elect to the offices of Governor and Lieutenant Governor. This security detail is required to be provided immediately after the Elections Canvassing Commission certifies the results of the primary election and continues until the nominee concedes the general election or the Commission certifies the results of the general election. Additionally, the protective security detail must be maintained for officers-elect until they officially assume office.

The bill specifically excludes nominees from minor political parties from receiving this protective security detail. The effective date for this act is set for July 1, 2026.
