The bill mandates the Agency for Health Care Administration to seek federal approval within 30 days of the act becoming law to provide coverage for continuous glucose monitors and related supplies as a durable medical equipment benefit under the Medicaid program. It stipulates that licensed durable medical equipment providers must be reimbursed for these supplies, with claims submitted through the Medicare Healthcare Common Procedure Coding System, and specifies that the use of a National Drug Code number is not required for claim submissions.
Additionally, the bill allows for the possibility of the agency providing further coverage of continuous glucose monitors as a Medicaid pharmacy benefit. The agency is required to implement these changes once the necessary federal approval is obtained. The act is set to take effect immediately upon becoming law.
