This bill amends Florida Statutes to enhance safety requirements for residential swimming pools. Specifically, it mandates that any swimming pool located on residential real property that is transferred or sold on or after October 1, 2026, must be equipped with at least one safety feature from a specified list, which includes options such as pool barriers, safety covers, exit alarms, self-closing doors, or pool alarms that meet certain standards. Additionally, licensed home inspectors are required to report any violations of these safety requirements to local enforcement agencies.

The bill also introduces penalties for non-compliance, classifying the failure to equip a pool with the required safety features as a misdemeanor of the second degree. However, individuals can avoid penalties if they rectify the violation within 45 days and complete a drowning prevention education program. The bill further amends the drowning prevention education program to ensure it is publicly available and may charge a fee for attendance, with funding sourced from fees, state appropriations, and grants. The act is set to take effect on July 1, 2026.
