This bill establishes a framework for the use of artificial intelligence (AI) by state agencies in Florida. It defines key terms related to AI, including what constitutes an artificial system and the scope of state agencies. The Florida Digital Service is tasked with conducting a comprehensive study to assess the impact of AI technology on state agencies, which will include identifying agencies that utilize AI, the purposes of such use, and the associated costs of procurement, implementation, and operation of AI technologies.

The Florida Digital Service is required to submit a written report detailing the findings of this study to the Governor and legislative leaders by March 1, 2027. The bill aims to ensure that the integration of AI within state operations is well-documented and understood, facilitating informed decision-making regarding its use in public services. The act will take effect upon becoming law.
