This bill amends section 121.055 of the Florida Statutes to make participation in the Senior Management Service Class of the Florida Retirement System compulsory for certain legal positions. Specifically, starting July 1, 2020, this requirement applies to appointed criminal conflict and civil regional counsel, as well as district assistant regional counsel chiefs, administrative directors, and chief investigators. Additionally, effective July 1, 2026, the bill mandates that participation will also be compulsory for each district's assistant regional counsel supervisors.

The bill also includes an appropriation of $950,000 in recurring funds from the General Revenue Fund for the 2026-2027 fiscal year, designated for the offices of criminal conflict and civil regional counsel to cover retirement benefits for the specified positions. The act is set to take effect on July 1, 2026.
