The Florida House of Representatives has passed a resolution congratulating Nicklaus Children's Hospital on its 75th anniversary. Established in 1950 and originally known as Miami Children's Hospital until its rebranding in 2015, it stands as South Florida's only free-standing pediatric hospital. The facility boasts a team of 850 physicians and over 500 pediatric subspecialists, and it is recognized for its excellence in pediatric medicine, with many of its specialty programs consistently ranking among the best in the nation since 2008, according to U.S. News & World Report. The hospital also opened the Kenneth C. Griffin Surgical Tower in 2024, enhancing its capabilities in pediatric surgical care.
In addition to its comprehensive medical services, Nicklaus Children's Hospital operates an extensive network of outpatient and urgent care centers across several counties in Florida, serving families both locally and internationally. The hospital is home to more than 30 pediatric specialties and key institutes focused on specific areas of care, such as cancer, brain disorders, and orthopedic issues. Its LifeFlight Critical Care Transport Program is notable for its ability to save nearly 4,000 infants and children annually, providing critical care transport across Florida and beyond. The resolution acknowledges the hospital's significant contributions to pediatric healthcare over the past 75 years.
