The Florida House of Representatives has introduced House Resolution HR 8037, designating March 19, 2025, as "FSU Day" in honor of Florida State University (FSU). Founded in 1851, FSU is recognized as the oldest continuous site of higher education in Florida and has achieved significant accolades, including being named a Preeminent University by the State of Florida and ranking No. 10 in Niche's report of Top Public Universities in America. The resolution highlights FSU's impressive academic performance, including a 96% first-year student retention rate and a 76% four-year graduation rate, as well as its substantial economic impact, contributing over $15.5 billion annually to the local and state economy.

Additionally, the resolution acknowledges FSU's leadership in research, with record expenditures of $460.7 million, and its role as the headquarters of the National High Magnetic Field Laboratory. FSU offers a diverse range of academic programs and has a strong commitment to student success, with a notable freshman class and a robust study-abroad program. The resolution also celebrates FSU's partnership with the Seminole Tribe of Florida and recognizes the achievements of its athletic programs. A copy of the resolution will be presented to Dr. Richard McCullough, the university's president, as a token of appreciation for FSU's contributions to higher education.
