This bill amends Florida Statutes to allow direct-support professionals and relatives of clients in group home facilities for individuals with developmental disabilities to administer insulin as prescribed, under specific conditions. It defines "direct-support professional" and establishes guidelines for insulin administration, including the requirement for training provided by licensed medical professionals and the development of policies and procedures by group home facilities. The bill also provides immunity from civil liability for damages and civil or criminal penalties for both the group home facilities and the individuals administering insulin, as long as they comply with the established requirements.

Additionally, the bill amends existing statutes to clarify that unlicensed direct service providers may supervise the self-administration of insulin and epinephrine using specific devices. It also makes a minor adjustment to a cross-reference in the Family Empowerment Scholarship Program definition of "disability." The act is set to take effect on July 1, 2025.
