Furthermore, the bill allows the Department of Transportation to issue permits for mobile cranes to operate under specific conditions, such as towing vehicles not exceeding 5,000 pounds and allowing mobile cranes and support vehicles that meet certain size requirements to operate on and off the Interstate Highway System. The bill also permits mobile cranes that exceed weight limits due to their design to operate on the highway. The act is set to take effect on July 1, 2025.
