This bill amends section 790.06 of the Florida Statutes to revise the regulations surrounding the carrying of concealed weapons and firearms at athletic events. Specifically, it allows actively sworn law enforcement officers to carry concealed weapons and firearms into certain athletic events when they are attending as private citizens. The bill clarifies that this provision does not preclude a judge from determining who may carry a concealed weapon in their courtroom and modifies the language regarding the prohibition of carrying firearms into school and athletic events.

Additionally, the bill makes several changes to the existing list of places where carrying concealed weapons is not authorized. Notably, it removes the previous language that stated nothing in this section precludes a judge from carrying a concealed weapon and replaces it with language that explicitly allows law enforcement officers to carry concealed weapons at athletic events. The bill is set to take effect on July 1, 2025.
