The proposed bill establishes the Alzheimer's Disease Awareness Initiative under a new section, 430.505, of the Florida Statutes. It mandates the Department of Elder Affairs to contract with a statewide nonprofit organization for the development and implementation of this initiative. The initiative aims to provide support and validated information to individuals affected by Alzheimer's disease and related forms of dementia. Key components of the initiative include creating a website with resources on early detection, risk reduction, brain health, and community resources, as well as promoting healthcare provider education and conducting outreach programs, particularly in underserved communities.

Additionally, the bill requires the Alzheimer's Disease Advisory Committee to make annual recommendations to the Department of Elder Affairs and the Legislature regarding future funding needs for the initiative. The entity contracted by the Department must have a history of focusing on Alzheimer's care and support, as well as the capacity to manage a statewide initiative. The bill is set to take effect on July 1, 2025.
