The bill amends section 588.17 of the Florida Statutes regarding the disposition of impounded livestock. It removes the exception that previously excluded cattle from being offered for adoption or humanely disposed of by the sheriff or county animal control center. Under the new provisions, both stray livestock and cattle can be adopted or disposed of under certain conditions, provided that the owner is notified and given a minimum of three business days to redeem the livestock.

Additionally, if the owner of the livestock is unknown or cannot be located, the agency must publish a notice on their website to inform the public. If the livestock is not redeemed within the established timeframe, it will be eligible for adoption or humane disposal. The bill is set to take effect on July 1, 2025.
