Additionally, the bill repeals an exception that previously allowed law enforcement officers and servicemembers to purchase rifles or shotguns regardless of age.

Furthermore, the bill revises the exceptions to the mandatory waiting period for purchasing rifles or shotguns. It removes the requirement for individuals to complete a 16-hour hunter safety course to bypass the waiting period, instead allowing an exemption upon successful completion of a background check. The act is set to take effect on July 1, 2025.
