This bill amends existing Florida law regarding the advertising practices of notaries public and establishes new regulations for businesses offering immigration services. It prohibits notaries public who are not attorneys from using specific terms such as "notario pblico," "immigration assistant," or similar titles that imply they have legal expertise in immigration law. Additionally, it requires notaries to include a conspicuous notice in their advertisements stating that they are not licensed attorneys and cannot provide legal advice.

The bill also creates a civil cause of action for individuals harmed by violations of these provisions, allowing them to seek declaratory or injunctive relief, actual damages, and reasonable attorney fees and costs. Furthermore, businesses offering immigration services must post clear notices on their websites and at their places of business, indicating that they are not licensed attorneys and are not accredited to represent clients in immigration matters. The act is set to take effect on July 1, 2025.
