The referendum will ask voters whether they support the transition to a district-wide election for the board of fire commissioners, replacing the current system that designates specific representatives from the Golden Gate and East Naples Divisions. The bill will take effect only if approved by a majority of voters in the referendum, while certain sections will become law immediately upon passage.
